The Center of Old Fongshan City History has its name in mandarin as Jiancheng Exhibition Hall. The word "Jiancheng" means rebuilding the old town. Besides the reconstruction of the ancient city wall and historic sites, the Center also combines new technological devices to display the history and recurrence the memories between the land and people.
The National Heritage Site "Old Fongshan City" in Zuoying District is the widest and earliest ancient city among all the well-preserved old town in Taiwan. In 2016, the Bureau of Cultural Affairs of Kaohsiung City Government proposed "Regeneration of historic sites: Old Fongshan City Resoration Project" and received the subsidy from Ministry of Culture. The project focused on the vision of rebuilding the national heritage site: Old Fongshan City Wall. The grand open of "The Center of Old Fongshan City History" in 2018 was an important sign and achievement of the project.
The Center of Old Fongshan City History highly utilizes technological interaction devices to show the prosperity and decline in the city's history with the goal of culture preservation. It is the only center in Taiwan that applies the technique of projection mapping as a media to display the model of the city with its history, hoping that visitors can journey around the history of the city, travel to the past and enjoy the experience via new technological interaction devices.
